# Connect DealScore to Claude Code

You connect DealScore to Claude Code by running claude mcp add --transport http dealscore https://cardealscore.com/api/mcp in a terminal, then running /mcp, selecting dealscore, and choosing Authenticate to finish the email sign-in. Claude Code registers a remote MCP server with `claude mcp add`. DealScore's transport is HTTP at `https://cardealscore.com/api/mcp`. The first `score_deal` call needs the OAuth sign-in.

## Quick answers

### What command adds DealScore to Claude Code?

claude mcp add --transport http dealscore https://cardealscore.com/api/mcp. The transport is HTTP.

### How does Claude Code sign in to DealScore?

With OAuth. Run /mcp, select dealscore, and choose Authenticate, then complete the email sign-in in the browser and approve access. dealscore has to show in /mcp before Authenticate is available.

### Does the Claude Code setup use an API key?

No. The add command uses OAuth. API keys are for curl and for MCP clients that send headers. Create one at /keys.

### Which tools does Claude Code get, and what do they cost?

score_deal, explain_grade, and health. Free includes 5 scored calls a month. Only results with coverage: scored count, and explain_grade and health are never metered.

## Keys stay on REST

This command uses OAuth. API keys are for curl and for MCP clients that send headers. Create one on https://cardealscore.com/keys, or follow the request example on https://cardealscore.com/used-car-price-api.

## If Authenticate does not finish

- The command includes `--transport http` and `https://cardealscore.com/api/mcp`.
- `/mcp` has to show dealscore before Authenticate is available. Re-run the add command in the project you opened.
- `coverage: cannot_score` means the connection worked and the comps were too thin to grade.

## What the agent can call

`score_deal` grades a deal. Send `asking_price` and `mileage`, plus a VIN or year, make, and model. `trim` and `zip` are optional. `explain_grade` maps a `delta_pct` to a grade without fetching comps. `health` reports coverage and limits. Free includes 5 scored calls a month and Builder is $19/mo (founding price) for 1,000 scored calls a month. Only `coverage: scored` counts, and `explain_grade` and `health` are never metered.
